Obituary: Mary Ada Greenwell Rice, 96, Louisville
Mary Ada Greenwell Rice, 96, of Louisville, received the gift of eternal life on Thursday, July 21, 2016. Her life was characterized by deep faith, hard work and unconditional love. With Mary as her model, she loved her Catholic faith, serving both God and her neighbor.
She was preceded in death by her husband George (1978); and an infant son, David Lee.
She is survived by seven daughters, Mary Ann Flanagan (Frank) and Patricia West, both of Lebanon, Teresa Rice of Louisville, Sue Ellen Ford (Leo) of Calvary, Nancy Edelen (Maurice) and Donna Hardin (Steve), both of Springfield, and Karen Cothran (Shane) of Texas’; four sons, Joseph Rice (Linda) of Bardstown, the Rev. Nick Rice and Paul Rice, both of Louisville, and Garland Rice (Robin) of North Carolina; one brother, Fabe Greenwell of Texas; 25 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great grandchildren.
The family would like to express a deep gratitude to the Sisters of Loretto and the entire staff at the infirmary, Drs. Salem and David George, and to the good people of St. Augustine and St. Charles Parishes.
The Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday at St. Augustine Catholic Church celebrated by Fr. Nick Rice. Burial was in the St. Augustine Church Cemetery.

The Bosley Funeral Home in Lebanon was in charge of the arrangements.
