Nelson Circuit Court Indictments, July 20, 2016

Editor’s Note: The indictment of a person by a grand jury or otherwise is an accusation only and that person is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

indictmentMonday, July 25, 2016, 4 p.m. – The following people were indicted by a Nelson County grand jury on Wednesday, July 20, 2016. They are scheduled for arraignment Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016, unless otherwise indicated.

16-CR-194. CHRISTOPHER TANNER, 40, Bardstown, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs/etc., fourth offense within 10 years.

According to the indictment, on May 22, 2016, Tanner was found operating his motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.

16-CR-195. KAYLA BOONE, 27, New Haven, promoting contraband, first-degree; possession of controlled substances, first-degree (heroin); promoting contraband, second-degree; possession of a prescription not in a proper container.

According to the indictment on Feb. 12, 2016, Boone allegedly introduced methamphetamine, heroin and a lighter into the Nelson County Jail, and possessed a prescription not in the container in which it was dispensed. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.

16-CR-196. CHAD EDWARD TIPTON, 29, Bardstown, escape, second-degree.

According to the indictment, on Feb. 5, 2016, Tipton failed to return to the Nelson County Jail from a furlough as ordered. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.

16-CR-197. JOSHUA RAMSEY, 32, Bardstown, receiving stolen property; persistent felony offender, first-degree.

According to the indictment, on June 17, 2016, Ramsey allegedly received, retained or disposed of a 1999 Chevrolet truck belong to another person while knowing it was stolen, having a value of $500 or more but less than $10,000. The indictment cites Ramsey’s prior felony convictions as basis for the persistent felony offender charge. Bail was set at $50,000 cash only, plus conditions.

16-CR-198. ERIC LOTT, 29, Greenville, Ga., theft of services, persistent felony offender, first-degree.

According to the indictment, between Feb. 16 and March 2, 2016, Lott allegedly failed to pay for his hotel stay at the General Nelson Inn. The indictment cites his prior felony convictions as basis for the persistent felony offender charge. Bail was set at $50,000 cash only, plus conditions.

16-CR-199. JOSE RAMOS, 43, Kentucky, at large, failure to comply with sex offender registry; persistent felony offender, first-degree.

According to the indictment, from June 3-Oct. 28, 2015, Ramos failed to complete the address verification form as required by the Sex Offender Registry. The indictment cites Ramos’ prior felony convictions as basis for the persistent felony offender charge. Bail was set at $50,000 cash only, plus conditions.

16-CR-200. JOSEPH D. BARTLEY, 34, New Haven, receiving stolen property and complicity to the same.

According to the indictment, on May 19, 2016, Bartley – acting alone or in concert with Ronald Mattingly — allegedly received, retained or disposed of several semi tires belonging to R & B Trucking, knowing they are stolen and having a value of $500 or more but less than $10,000. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.

16-CR-201. JUSTIN MCCORD, 35, Louisville, possession of a forged instrument, first-degree and complicity to the same; persistent felony offender, first-degree.

According to the indictment,  on Feb. 21, 2016, McCord – acting along or in concert with Eric Honshell, passed counterfeit U.S. currency at Walmart. The indictment cites McCord’s prior felony convictions as basis for the persistent felony offender charge. Bail was set at $100,00 cash only, plus conditions.

16-CR-202. RONALD D. MATTINGLY, 30, Springfield, receiving stolen property and complicity to the same (four counts).

According to the indictment, on May 19, 23, and 31, 2016 and June 10, 2016, Mattingly – acting alone or in concert with  Joseph Bartley – allegedly received, retained or disposed of semi tires belonging to R&B Trucking knowing they are stolen, having a value of $500 or more but less than $10,000. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.

16-CR-203. ERIC HONSHELL, 53, Louisville, possession of a forged instrument, first-degree and complicity to the same; persistent felony offender, first-degree.

According to the indictment, on Feb. 21, 2016, Honshell – acting along or in concert with Justin McCord — passed counterfeit U.S. currency at Walmart. The indictment cites McCord’s prior felony convictions as basis for the persistent felony offender charge. Bail was set at $100,00 cash only, plus conditions.

16-CR-204. SHAWN L. HOWELL, 34, Mount Washington, theft of identity of another without consent and complicity to the same.

According to the indictment, on or about Jan. 1, 2016, Howell – acting alone or in concert with Megan R. Howell – stole another person’s identity by using their name on a false email account with the intent of obtaining benefits or property to which he would not have otherwise been entitled. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only, plus conditions.

16-CR-205. MICHAEL SCOTT, 37, Bardstown, sexual abuse, first-degree (victim under 16); possession of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor; tampering with physical evidence.

According to the indictment, on June 18, 2016, Scott allegedly engaged in sexual contact with another person under 16 years of age, and possessed matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor. The indictment further alleges that Scott attempted to hide a cell phone from police when he believed an official proceeding was pending. Bail was set at $20,000 cash only, plus conditions.

16-CR-206. MEGAN R. HOWELL, 20, Mount Washington, theft of identity of another without consent and complicity to the same.

According to the indictment, Howell – acting alone or in concert with Shawn Howell – allegedly stole another person’s identity by using their name on a false email account with the intent to obtain benefits or property to which he would not be otherwise entitled. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only, plus conditions.

16-CR-207. LISA A. LAW, 44, Mount Washington, possession of controlled substances, first-degree (methamphetamine) and complicity to the same.

According to the indictment, on June 14, 2016, Law – acting alone or in concert with Samantha Kennedy – possessed methamphetamine. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only, plus conditions.

16-CR-208. WILLIAM TYLER SHEPERD, 19, Mackville, possession of a forged instrument, second-degree (20 counts).

According to the indictment, between April 1-May 31, 2016, Sheperd allegedly passed forged 20 checks totaling the amounts of: $40 to Five Star; $200 to Handy Food Mart; $21.52 to Pizza Hut; $50 to Circle K; $200 to Thompsons Food Mart; $33 to Stephen Foster Restaurant; $270 to Krogers; $22 to Blazers Food Mart; and $25 to 150 Quick Stop. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions

16-CR-209. SAMANTHA KENNEDY, 27, Shepherdsville, possession of controlled substances, first-degree (methamphetamine) and complicity to the same.

According to the indictment, on June 14, 2016, Kennedy – acting alone or in concert with Lisa Law – possessed methamphetamine. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only, plus conditions.

16-CR-210. JERRY L. TINNELL, 52, Boston, burglary, second-degree; assault, third-degree (2 counts); criminal mischief, first-degree; stalking, second-degree; resisting arrest; disorderly conduct, second-degree; menacing (2 counts); criminal mischief, third-degree (2 counts).

According to the indictment, on June 18, 2016, Tinnell allegedly stalked another person by driving by her home and work and repeatedly messaging her, then entered her residence with the intent to commit a crime, creating more than $1,000 in damage. The indictment further alleges that Tinnell fought with and cursed both Deputy Richard Jones and Deputy Steven Campbell and damaged property belong to each having a value of less than $500. Bail was set at $20,000 cash only, plus conditions.

16-CR-211. AMANDA BROADDUS, 25, Bloomfield, possession of controlled substances, first-degree (methamphetamine); possession of synthetic cannabinoid agonists or piperazines.

According to the indictment, on June 6, 2016, Broaddus allegedly was found in possession of methamphetamine and synthetic cannabinoid. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only, plus conditions.

16-CR-212. JOSEPH ALLEN EDWARDS, 29, address unknown, unlawful access to a computer, first-degree; theft by unlawful taking.

According to the indictment, between Aug. 5 – Sept. 8, 2015, Edwards allegedly accessed a computer network to fraudulently obtain money belonging to someone else having a value of more than $500 but less than $10,000. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only, plus conditions.

16-CR-213. JASON M. GUFFEY, 22, address unknown, fleeing and evading police, first-degree (motor vehicle); wanton endangerment, first-degree; unlawful transaction with a minor, second-degree; endangering the welfare of a minor; operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs/etc.; resisting arrest; criminal mischief, third-degree; disorderly conduct, second-degree; license to be in possession; failure to illuminate head lamps; reckless driving; failure to illuminate rear license.

According to the indictment, on March 15, 2016, Guffey allegedly used a motor vehicle to flee from police while operating it under the influence of alcohol/drugs/etc. The indictment alleges Guffey recklessly operated his vehicle, then jumped from it while moving, leaving a juvenile inside, causing a substantial danger of death or physical injury, and causing a minor to engage in criminal activity. The indictment additionally alleges Guffey resisted arrest and cause damage to equipment owned by the Kentucky State Police with a value of less than $500. Bail was set at $20,000 cash only, plus conditions.

16-CR-214. BRENTON BYRD, 36, Bardstown, possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor (20 counts); distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor (10 counts).

According to the indictment, on April 24, 2016, Byrd allegedly was in possession of matter that visually depicted an actual sexual performance by a minor and knowing distributed it. Bail was set at $25,000 cash only, plus conditions.

16-CR-215. STEVE D. NORRIS, 38, Bardstown, welfare fraud (over $100); persistent felony offender, first-degree.

According to the indictment, from Aug. 4, 2013 – Feb. 27, 2014, Norris allegedly failed to advise the Department for Community Based Services of his employment circumstances and received $7,045.00 in unemployment benefits to which he was not legally entitled. The indictment cites Norris’ prior felony convictions as basis for the persistent felony offender charge. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.

16-CR-216. MISTY GRANTHAM, 36, Lexington, wanton endangerment, first-degree; wanton endangerment, first-degree – police officer; fleeing and evading police officer, first-degree (motor vehicle); operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs/etc.; reckless driving; no operators license; speeding; failure to illuminated head lamps; failure to give turn signal; improper passing; no insurance; operating motor vehicle while license is suspended; failure to wear seatbelt.

According to the indictment, on June 2, 2016, Grantham allegedly fled from police at a high rate of speed almost striking a semi while driving recklessly and intoxicated without a valid operators license or insurance. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.

16-CR-217. LAUREN GARDNER, 29, Bloomfield, possession of controlled substances, first-degree (cocaine); possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of marijuana.

According to the indictment, on March 18, 2016, Gardner was allegedly found in possession of cocaine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only, plus conditions.

16-CR-218. James D. Carey, 30, Bardstown, possession of controlled substances, first-degree (heroin); possession of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the indictment, on May 29, 2016, Carey allegedly was found in possession of heroin, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only, plus conditions.
