Local group to mark Revolutionary War soldier’s grave in Bloomfield

Monday, Aug. 1, 2016, 8 p.m. — The Nelson County NSCAR, Nelson County Children of the American Revolution. will hold their “first marking” and nscarthe “First in the state of Kentucky” honoring Revolutionary War Soldier Private Richard McKay .

The marking, which consists of unveiling a bronze marker in front of his military tombstone, will be unveiled. The marker will shows his name, rank and Rev. War unit, date of birth and death . The ceremony is 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016, at the Bloomfield Baptist Church Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Becky Brothers, senior president and Dannielle Gilkey, president of the Nelson County NSCAR invite you to join them for a salute to Richard McKay. The Governor Isaac Shelby Sons of the American Revolution will also mark his grave with a Sons of the American Revolution marker, a flag display, flag folding ceremony and a 21-gun musket salute. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
