Monday, Aug. 1, 2016, 10:30 p.m. — Thomas A. “Tommy” Hart filed his paperwork Monday to keep his seat as a Nelson County Soil Conservation District Supervisor.
Hart, 71, a resident of the Woodlawn community, is an incumbent who has served for years as a soil conservation supervisor.
Soil conservation supervisors govern the Nelson County Soil Conservation District and serve a four-year term. Four of the seven supervisor seats in the local soil conservation district will be on the November ballot — provided more than four candidates file. If the number of candidates equal the number of vacancies, the county clerk certifies the supervisors elected.
The deadline to file for the non-partisan local offices — city council, city commission, soil conservation district and city and county school boards — on the November ballot is 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9.
