Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016 5:30 p.m. — An police operation involving Nelson County sheriff’s deputies, and undercover officers of the Greater Hardin County Narcotics Task Force and Kentucky State Police apparently prompted a police pursuit of a male subject that ended in the 600 police-with-tape-car.previewblock of Yates Cooney Neck Road.

At about 3:55 p.m., an officer reported to Nelson County Dispatch they were in pursuit of a late model black Chevrolet Suburban with temporary tags that allegedly tried to hit one officer and then rammed an undercover officer’s vehicle. The first report of the pursuit was when officers were on the southern end of Yates Cooney Neck Road.

As the pursuit continued, one of the SUV’s front tires shredded, though the driver continued driving with the metal rim on the road. The pursuit slowed to speeds of about 40 mph. During the pursuit, the SUV driver again struck an undercover officers’ vehicle. The SUV overturned in a curve in the 600 block of Yates Cooney Neck Road.

The driver was taken into custody, and an animal control officer was contacted regarding an animal in the overturned vehicle.

Nelson County EMS transported the driver of the SUV and another person from the scene to Flaget Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
