Obituary: Cynthia Ann Skaggs Carter, 79, Hodgenville

Cynthia Ann Skaggs Carter, 79, of Hodgenville, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016, at her home. She was a graduate of the Sullivan Business College in Louisville. She was a 50-plus year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. she was a funeral_flowerretired civil service employee for more than 36 years of service doing various jobs at Fort Knox. She was a member of the Mount Tabor Baptist Church in Buffalo. She was born March 4, 1937, the daughter of the late Alfred Thomas and Amy Gibson Skaggs.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Harold Ray Carter.

She is survived by one niece, Alene Skaggs DeSpain of Hodgenville; one nephew, Ernest (Yvonne) Skaggs of Buffalo; one great-niece, Betsy Tucker of Hodgenville; three great-nephews, Ronnie Skaggs of Buffalo, Ernest Wayne Skaggs of Hodgenville and Roy Abell of Buffalo; several great-great-nieces and nephews; and many cousins and friends.

The graveside service is 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016, at the Red Hill Cemetery in Hodgenville with Billy Whitlock officiating.

Visitation is 1-1:30 p.m. Saturday at the William R. Rust Funeral Home Hodgenville Chapel, 612 North Lincoln Boulevard in Hodgenville

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations go to the Mount Tabor Sanctuary Renovation Fund, PO Box 13, Buffalo, KY 42716.
