Man taken into custody after threatening harm to himself

Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016, 11 p.m. — A 79-year-old man was taken into custody Sunday morning after his wife reported the man made threats to kill himself.
According to a police press release, at 10:08 a.m. Sunday, the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office responded to an address in the 4000 block of Bloomfield Road for a subject threatening to harm himself. When deputies arrived they established a perimeter and attempt to established contact with the man, who was in the garage with a gun. Police determined that the man, Eugene Boyd Sr., 79, was wanted on an active arrest warrant for first-degree sodomy out of Jefferson County. Officers eventually made contact with the man, and after about half-an-hour, he came out of the garage with the handgun pointed down before dropping it. He was taken into custody without incident.
