Coroner called to early morning vehicle fire Sunday near Botland

Sunday, Aug. 21, 2016, 3:50 a.m. — At least one person apparently died at the scene of a vehicle fire early Sunday morning on Springfield Road near the Botland community.
At about 3 a.m., Nelson County Fire Department units and the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched for a report of a vehicle on fire on US150, the Springfield Road, about a half of a mile west of 150 Quick Stop.
The first firefighters at the scene reported the car in the roadway and was fully engulfed in flames. Fire crews shut down Springfield Road while they brought the fire under control. Once the fire was under control, firefighters requested the Nelson County Coroner to respond to the scene of the fire.
There’s no word yet on the number of victims, their identities, or if another vehicle or vehicles were involved. The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
