Obituary: Mary K. Lemmons Parrett, 70, New Haven

MARY K. LEMMONS PARRETT

Mary K. Lemmons Parrett, 70, of New Haven, died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2016. She was born Dec. 31, 1945, in Springfield, Ohio, to the late Joseph J. and Katherine Louise Krupp Lemmons. She received nursing degrees from both Clark State College and Wright State University. She worked as a registered nurse at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, Ohio, Mercy Urbana Hospital in Urbana, Ohio, and Nazareth Motherhouse at Nazareth. Due to failing health, she retired from nursing in 2001.

She was a Catholic by faith and served as Benedictine Oblate with Benedictines of Jesus Crucified of Branford, Conn.; a member of Intercessors of the Lamb of Omaha, Neb.; the Lay Cistercians of Gethsemani of the Abbey of Our Lady of Gethsemani; and was a volunteer for many years with the New Hope Food Bank. She was also an accomplished author. She had many books published, with 14 of her books residing in the Library of Congress.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers; Richard Lemmons, William C. Lemmons, Joseph Lemmons and Robert J. Lemmons Sr.; one son; Joseph Lemmons; one granddaughter, Laney Jae Parrett; and one grandson, Dale Richard Hayden.

She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Robert W. Parrett Sr.; two daughters, Rebecca Locke (Matthew) and Katherine Hayden, both of Springfield, Ohio; one son, Robert W. Parrett Jr. (Jennifer) of Springfield, Ohio; one sister Dolores Fischer (Kenny) of Blufton, S.C.; three sisters-in-law, Joanne Lemmons, Janice Lemmons and Mary Pat Lemmons; three brothers-in-law, Tom (Velma) Parrett, Tim (Barbara) Parrett and Barry (Teresa) Parrett; nine grandchildren, Connor Parrett, Nolan Parrett, Regan Parrett, Luke Parrett, Kylie Locke, Callen Locke, Ciera Hayden, Madelyn Hayden and Joel Clark; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation is 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, at the Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven with a graveside service and burial to follow at the Abbey of Our Lady of Gethsemani.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of one’s choice.

The Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven is in charge of arrangements.
