Horizons locked down as police investigate report of a student with weapon

Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, 11:30 a.m. — Horizon Academy on Wildcat Lane was placed on soft lock-down Thursday morning after the school received information that a student at the school was possibly be carrying a weapon. At about 10:30 Thursday morning, Bardstown Police officers were dispatched to the school. Officers investigated the report and eventually determined the call was unfounded.

A press release from the Nelson County Schools confirmed the report of a weapon at school triggered the lockdown and that police responded. No weapon was found. The release said school officials will continue to monitor the situation.
