Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016, 5:30 p.m. – The Bardstown City Council met on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016. The council debated the need to raise the city occupational tax, and was unable to agree on what action to take. The mayor conducted a swearing-in ceremony for the city’s newest police officer, and had a pinning ceremony for the four new sergeants in the police department. The council also heard a report that the 911 negotiations between the city and county government were still ongoing; lowered the 2016 city property tax rate slightly in order to create about the same revenue as last year; discussed the city police body camera program, with cost estimates of about $100, 000 or more; and the city passed an ordinance to claim its share of the 911 fee approved earlier by the county government. Running time: about 2:20.
