Grand jury indicts Bardstown man, woman for separate sex crimes

Editor’s Note: The indictment of a person by a grand jury or otherwise is an accusation only and that person is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Elvin Jujuan Jenkins, 33, Bardstown was indicted Wednesday, May 18, 2011, by a Nelson County grand jury on 20 counts of first-degree sodomy.

According to the indictment, between July 30, 2010 and April 22, 2011, Jenkins allegedly engaged in deviate sexual intercourse with another person by use of forcible compulsion. Bail was set at $200,000 cash only plus conditions.

Jenkins was arrested Thursday, May 19, 2011 and lodged in the Nelson County Jail.

A Bardstown woman, Crystal Lynn Burman, 39, was also indicted on Wednesday by a Nelson County grand jury on charges of rape in the third-degree.

According to the indictment, between October 2010 and Jan. 2, 2011, Burman allegedly engaged in sexual intercourse with another person under the age of 16. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only plus conditions.

Jenkins and Burman will be arraigned on June 2, 2011, in Nelson Circuit Court.
