One injured Saturday in single-vehicle accident near bottom of Burg Hill

Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, 4 p.m. — A 78-year-old man was injured Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash near the bottom of Burg Hill on US150, the Springfield Road.
The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, Nelson County EMS and Nelson County Fire Department were called to the area of Burg Hill just after 2 p.m.
The vehicle the victim was in left the roadway for unknown reasons and went over an embankment. When police arrived at the accident scene they found that the man had been able to get out of the vehicle and was located a distance away from the vehicle on the ground.
Traffic on Springfield Road was blocked in both directions while first-responders worked the accident and attended to the victim. EMS transported the man to the Fredericktown ballpark to meet with a medical helicopter. He was flown from the scene directly to University Hospital. A second individual refused transport by EMS.
