Obituary: Betty Molyneaux Carothers, 69, formerly of Bardstown
Betty Molyneaux Carothers, 69, of Peachtree City, Ga., and formally of Bardstown, died Saturday Sept. 3, 2016, at her home. She was born Jan. 10, 1947, in Louisville. She was a teacher, sales person, and a flight attendant. She was the first president of Alpha Delta Pi at Eastern Kentucky University. She won numerous tennis and golf championships; she was skilled at match making, finding job opportunities for others, and playing slots. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Y. Molyneaux and Grace Hamilton Molyneaux; and one sister, Sara Kathryn Molyneaux.
She is survived by her husband, James “Jimmy” Carothers Jr. of Peachtree City, Ga.; one daughter, Kate (Mitch) Smith of Bardstown; one son, James “Judge” (Jessica Payne) Carothers of Louisville; one sister, Julia Ann (Guthrie) Wilson of Bardstown; two brothers, Capt. Charles Yale (Joan) Molyneaux Jr. of Charleston, S.C., and Richard Lee (Donna) Molyneaux of Bardstown; and four grandchildren, Freeman Smith, Felix Smith, Knox Carothers, and Trenten Rapp.
The funeral is noon Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, at Barlow Funeral Home, with burial in the Bardstown Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may go to American Heart Association.
