Obituary: Katherine Pauline Mattingly, 92, Loretto
Katherine Pauline Mattingly, 92, of Loretto, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2016, at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon. She was born Sept. 10, 1923, in Raywick. She was a former employee of Star Hill Distillery and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Marty Mattingly; one son, Charles Richard “Ricky” Mattingly; her parents, John Lambert and Melvina Galloway McCauley; four sisters, Judy Favreau, Rita Mattingly, Margaret Galloway and Glora Mae McCauley; and eight brothers, Howard McCauley, Bernard McCauley, R.E. McCauley, Ronnie McCauley, Harold McCauley, Joe Ben McCauley, John L. McCauley Jr. and Lee McCauley.
Survivors include four daughters, Julia Downs of Bardstown, Gwen Humphrey (David) and Joyce Hite (Charles), both of Lebanon Junction and Charlotte Mattingly of Loretto; two sons, Bill Mattingly and Larry Mattingly, both of Loretto; one sister, Marceline Nickum of Illinois; one brother, Tom McCauley of Louisville; 12 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and a number of great-great grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, St. Francis with burial in the church cemetery with the Rev. Bryan T. Lamberson officiating.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, at the Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a 7 p.m. prayer service by Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of the arrangements.
