Obituary: Elizabeth Ann ‘Tinker’ Young, 68, Bardstown
Elizabeth Ann “Tinker” Young, 68, of Bardstown, departed this life Wednesday Sept. 7, 2016, at her residence. She was born May 29, 1948, in Bardstown to Bertha and Charles Ford. She united with Christ at an early age and joined First Baptist Church in Bardstown under the leadership of Rev. Davis. She was a faithful worker in the church and was the head of the Culinary Committee for many years. She was a 1966 graduate of Bardstown High School, a retired employee of Bird & Sons with 23 years of service, and a member of the Ebonese Social Club. She loved to read, and was a wonderful cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Preston and Bertha Stivers Ford; four sisters, Wanda Owens, Connie Allen, Patricia Logan, and Betty Ann Ford; and one brother, Raymond S. Ford.
She was a loving wife and mother and she leaves to mourn her passing her husband of 49 years, Kenneth W. Young Sr.; four sons, Kenneth W. “Kenny” Young, Raymond L. “Ray Ray” Young, Payton L. (Ella) Young, all of Bardstown, and Reid C. Young of Louisville; two sisters, Jean Hayes of Waterloo, Iowa and Brenda Ford of Bardstown; five brothers, Charles Ford and Joseph Kimberland, both of Bardstown, Antonio (Theresa) Owens of Bowling Green, Angelo Owens of Radcliff and Mike (Paula) Owens of Fort Wayne, Ind.; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The home going service is 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at the First Baptist Church of Bardstown with the Rev. Michael Smith officiating. Burial is in the Bardstown Cemetery.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the church.
The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
