Obituary: Josephine Cambron Gootee, 88, Loretto

Josephine Cambron Gootee, 88, of Loretto, died Friday, Sept. 9, 2016 at the Loretto Motherhouse Infirmary. She was born Feb. 7, 1928, in Manton to the late Clem Basil Cambron Sr. and Florida Cambron.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Arthur Gootee; three sisters, Roberta Durbin, Mahala Newton and Louise Wathen; seven brothers, infant Charles Cambron, Charles “Sonny” Cambron, John William “Jack” Cambron, Raymond A. “Bert” Cambron, Robert I. “Judge” Cambron, Ben Cambron and C.B. Cambron Jr.

Survivors include three daughters, Betty Green (Gerald) of Loretto, Darlene Reid (Helman) of Holy Cross and Mary Gootee of Shelbyville; three sons, James Gootee (Terry) of Simpsonville, David Gootee of Raywick and Mike Gootee (Janet) of Lebanon; one sister, Imogene Kelly of Lebanon; 13 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, St. Francis with burial in the the Holy Rosary cemetery at Manton cemetery with the Rev. Bryan T. Lamberson officiating.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, at the Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with a prayer service at 7 p.m. with Deacon Joseph R. Dant.

Pallbearers are her sons and Adam Gootee, Scott Gootee and Joe Dave Gootee.

Memorial donations may go to the Sisters of Loretto, 515 Nerinx Road, Nerinx, KY 40049.

The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
