Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016 — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Division of Driver Licensing announced recently that it has discontinued the practice of sending license renewal reminder notices to licensed drivers.
Effective Sept. 1, 2016, licensed drivers will no longer receive renewal reminders regarding the expiration dates of their operators licenses.
According to a memo sent to Kentucky circuit clerks by Matthew Cole, the director of the Transportation Cabinet’s division of driver licensing, the decision came “after weighing the impact of the renewal cards versus the cost of maintaining this process.”
Those who hold CDLs (Commercial Driver Licenses) will continue to receive renewal reminders since that practice is mandated by federal law.
