Obituary: Norma Jean Thompson, 80, Bardstown

NORMA JEAN THOMPSON

Norma Jean Thompson, 80, of Bardstown, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, at her residence. She was born April 17, 1936, in Marion County. She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Patrick Greenwell Sr. and Mary Ann Mattingly Greenwell; two sisters, Jane Box and Julia Gosser; and two brothers, Pete Greenwell and Johnny Greenwell.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Jim Thompson; one daughter, Debbie Roberts of Arkansas; one son, Glenn Thompson (Mary) of Louisville; seven sisters, Gertrude Hebel of Shepherdsville, Margaret Greenwell of Bardstown, Patricia Johnson (David) of Mount Washington, Sheila Greenwell of Somerset, Louise Staton of California and Martha Thomas and Linda Greenwell, both of Louisville; five brothers, Stephen Greenwell, Louie Greenwell, Bobby Greenwell, Ronnie Greenwell and David Greenwell, all of Louisville; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The memorial service is 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, at Mattingly Funeral  Home, 195 Holy Cross Rd., Loretto. Cremation was chosen.

Visitation with family is after the service on Friday until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of the arrangements.
