Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, 1 p.m. — One of Bardstown’s newer businesses is expanding its operation to a new site in the Wilson Industrial Park.
The Bardstown City Council approved the sale of a 7.75 acre tract in the Wilson Industrial Park to Demipac Inc., a local company that has been in operation since 2012 manufacturing plastic products, particularly packing materials made from polythene film materials and used by Internet retailers for packing purposes. The company also makes polythene bags, lamination films and similar products.
In addition to the $121,000 purchase price of the land, Demipac plans to invest nearly $1.7 million at their new industrial park site, which will include $950,000 for the building and more than $500,000 for machinery.
The company has aggressive plans to expand its operation once it is up and running. Over the next five years, the company is planning to invest $2 million on a building expansion and another $1.5 million in manufacturing equipment.
The company plans to begin at its new location with seven employees and wind up with a total of 25 workers involved in production.
According to Kim Huston, president of the Nelson County Economic Development Agency, Demipac currently operates in a leased building on Parrish Boulevard.
