Bardstown Police officer’s traffic stop leads to drug-related charges

Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, 7 p.m. — A routine traffic stop on Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, led to police issuing a citation to a Bardstown woman’s passenger on drug-related charges.

bardstownpolicepatchAccording to a Bardstown Police Department uniform citation, at 9:10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, Officer Jarren Culver stopped a vehicle operated by Whitney M. Greenwell of Bardstown after he observed the 2013 Ford she was operating make  a turn from Ben Frye Avenue onto Wilble Boulevard without using a turn signal. After obtaining consent to search the vehicle, Culver found four oval pills that were a prescription medicine in a purse owned by Greenwell’s passenger, Chelsea Elizabeth Horton of Bardstown. The report also states Culver located a straw in her purse with an unidentified white residue.

Horton was cited for a prescription controlled substance not in the property container, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Greenwell was cited for failure to signal and license to be in possession. Both were cited to an Oct. 13, 2016, appearance in Nelson District Court.
