NCHS student cited after being found in possession of marijuana

Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016 — A Nelson County High School student was cited for possession of marijuana on Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, after police were bardstownpolicepatchcalled by school officials just before 1 p.m.

According to the uniform citation by Bardstown Police Officer Andrew Riley, the juvenile was caught by a high school faculty member with a cigarillo pack that contained two cigarillos; one contained tobacco while the second contained a green leafy substance which appeared to be marijuana. The student told police he was asked to hold the pack by a friend but was unaware of its contents. The unnamed student was charged with one count of possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor punishable by up to 90 days in jail and a maximum $250 fine.
