Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016 — A New Haven man was arrested early Sunday morning as the Long Branch Saloon in New Haven was closing and its patrons were leaving.
According to a uniform citation, Bardstown Police Sgt. Tom Blair was working off-duty at the New Haven Iron Horse Festival when he and New Haven Police Chief K.C. Holbert heard what sounded like an accident in the Long Branch parking lot. Blair found Michael A. Newton, 39, in a vehicle attempting to leave the parking lot. A breathalyzer confirmed the presence of alcohol. Newton was arrested and charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place. He was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
