Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, 2 a.m. — The name and logo for Bardstown’s newest Bourbon distillery was unveiled Thursday afternoon at the distillery’s 70-luxrow2acre site at 3050 East John Rowan Blvd., south of Spencer Mattingly Lane.

St. Louis-based distilled spirits marketer Luxco announced its plan to build a distillery in Bardstown earlier this year and broke ground for construction in May. On Thursday, Luxco officials announced the new distillery will be named Lux Row Distillers.

Donn Lux, Lux Row Distillers’ chairman and CEO, told WBRT he felt that using the corporate  name Luxco sounded too industrial for their distillery’s new Kentucky home. The new name reflects that the distillery is a new chapter in the Lux family and company evolution. The name incorporates the family name and aspects of the area’s bourbon heritage.

Luxco reviewed a lot of places before the company selected Bardstown for the site of its distillery, and he praised the community for making them feel their project was welcome — from state and local officials to the Ballard family who owned the farm and the from support of neighboring residents.

“They’ve welcomed us with open arms, it just felt really genuine,” he said. “After all our trips he we looked at it and said ‘Let’s do this.’ ”

Once completed, Lux Row Distillers will feature an 18,000 square-foot distillery building, six rickhouses, a tasting room and event space. The distillery is being built alongside an existing historic home on the property.

Luxco’s bourbon brands include Rebel Yell, Blood Oath and Ezra Brooks. The distillery should be operating by the end of next year.
