Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, 1 p.m. — Nelson County Judge Executive Dean Watts reported to Nelson Fiscal Court this morning the county has received $197,000 in emergency road funding to make repairs to both Green Chapel Road and Murphy Lane.

Both roads were closed earlier this year after road surface failures made passage of traffic unsafe.

Watts said the state funding should cover most of the cost of repairs to both roads, adding that the county will pick up the additional costs.

911 INTERLOCAL UPDATE. County Attorney Matthew Hite reported that the new interlocal agreement between Nelson Fiscal Court and the City of Bardstown was signed and delivered to Bardstown City Hall for Mayor John Royalty’s signature.

The agreement replaces an existing the original one that expired last year and was extended until Sept. 30. The new agreement governs the joint 911 dispatch operation, its director and the make up of its board of directors.

The new agreement gives both governments input regarding the selection of the dispatch director, and adds a seventh board member to be appointed by the city, as well as setting a maximum financial contribution by the City for its share of 911 expenses not covered by 911 fees. The agreement also gives the city an ownership stake in new equipment purchased. That ownership will be commensurate with the city’s financial contribution to the board’s finances.

NEXT UP. Nelson Fiscal Court next meets at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, in the Fiscal Court meeting room on the second floor of the Old Court House on Court Square.
