Obituary: Francis Gerald Fogle, 87, Holy Cross
Francis Gerald Fogle, 87, of Holy Cross, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, at the Loretto Motherhouse Infirmary in Nerinx. He was born Dec. 17, 1928, in Holy Cross. He was a farmer, a retired employee of Cissell Manufacturing in Louisville, a former Marion County deputy sheriff and a lifelong active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Emanuel and Nannie Estelle Hicks Fogle; one infant son, Joseph Marion Fogle; three sisters, Dimelda Thompson, Evelyn McIntyre and Helen Spalding Green; five brothers, Billy, Otho, Robert, Avon and infant Dannie Fogle.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Barbara Smith Fogle; five daughters, Yvonne Ballard (Alan) of Forsyth, Ga., Sheila Beaven (Dick) of Henderson, Colette Hill (Bobby) of Springfield, Madeline Thompson (Gomer) of St. Francis and Leigh Ann Fogle of Holy Cross; five sons, Alan Fogle (Linda) of Beersheba Springs, Tenn., DeWayne Fogle (Debra) of Eva, Ala., Brad Fogle (Donna) and Smith Fogle, both of Holy Cross and Bart Fogle of Loretto; one brother Randall Fogle (Henrietta) of Holy Cross; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 59 New Haven Road, Loretto, with the Rev. Bryan T. Lamberson officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2016, at the Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with a prayer service at 7 p.m. with Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
Memorial donations may go to the Holy Cross Cemetery Fund or Mass of the Air, 508 Breckenridge Lane, Louisville, KY 40207.
