Obituary: John W. Adams Jr., 85, formerly of Bardstown

John W. Adams Jr., 85, of Louisville, a native of Bardstown, died Sept. 20, 2016. He was a retired civil service employee. He retired from the U.S. Army and retired as the Director of Kentucky Veterans’ Affairs. He served as the National Vice-Commander of the American Legion (1975-1976) funeral_flowerand was recently honored by induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame of Bardstown High School.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nancy Adams; two daughters, Frances Keeley (Dan) of Little Rock, Ark. and Constance Adams of Louisville;
one son, John W. Adams III (Helen) of Rineyville; six grandchildren, Travis, Shaun, Daniel, Brook, Emily and Leslie; and eight great-grandchildren, Andrew, Ava, Brett, Brooke, Abby, Etchieson, Anna and Adam.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at Barlow Funeral Home with burial in the Bardstown Cemetery.

Visitation is noon-1 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
