THURSDAY, SEPT. 22, 2016

MARIJUANA AT SCHOOL. A Nelson County High School student was cited by Bardstown Police for possession of marijuana at the school on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016.

bardstownpolicepatchAt 9:45 a.m., Bardstown Police were dispatched to the school for a student in possession of marijuana. According to the citation, school officials were told the male juvenile student and another juvenile were observed smoking marijuana at the Circle K convenience store, 1085 Bloomfield Rd. When question by police, the student admitted having a marijuana cigarette in his back pack.

The case was referred to the court designated worker.

DRUG CHARGES. A Bardstown man was arrested on drug-related charges early on the morning of Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, after he sitting in front of E-Z Cash Pawn. When approached by a Bardstown Police officer, it was determined there was an active warrant for the man’s arrested. Prior to taking the subject into custody, a search located a small container that allegedly held crystal methamphetamine, as well as a pipe and a syringe.

Joseph L. Zevotek, 28, of Bardstown, was charged with possession of controlled substances, first-degree (methamphetamine) and lodged in the Nelson County Jail.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 23, 2016

DRUG CHARGES. A Bardstown man was cited to Nelson District Court on drug-related charges following a traffic stop early Friday morning near the intersection of South Third St. and East Muir.

At 2 a.m. Friday, Bardstown Police Sgt. Jeremy Cauley stopped a vehicle operated by Antonia D. Railey, of Bardstown, after Cauley determined the vehicle Railey was operating has canceled registration for failure to maintaine insurance. During the stop, Cauley obtained permission to search the vehicle, and allegedly located two baggies of marijuana, a digital scale, and other items. Railey was cited for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, no registration plates and no insurance.

SHOPLIFTING. An Illinois man was arrested Saturday morning on theft-related charges stemming from an incident that happened at the Bardstown Kroger store.

According to the citation, David J. Hancock, 33, of Bartlett, Ill., was allegedly observed by Kroger employees taking two packages of diapers and placing them in a bag, and then trying to return the diapers for cash at the customer service desk. He was charged with theft by unlawful taking-shoplifting under $500 and lodged in the Nelson County Jail.

SHOPLIFTING. A Bardstown woman was arrested Saturday afternoon on theft-related charges stemming from an incident that happened at the Bardstown Kroger store.

According to the citation, Stacey R. Reames, 35, of Bardstown was allegedly observed taking merchandise from a shelf and trying to leave the store without paying for it. Reames was charged with theft by unlawful taking-shoplifting under $500 and lodged in the Nelson County Jail.

ALCOHOL-RELATED. A Bardstown man was arrested Saturday afternoon on alcohol-related charges after he was spotted asleep in his pickup truck near the Town and Country Bank Branch on West John Rowan Boulevard.

According the citation, Bardstown Police were dispatched to the area of the bank to check on the welfare of a a man asleep in a pickup truck. Officer Nathan Phillips allegedly woke the man and detected the strong smell of alcohol. David R. Clifford, 6/13/68, of Bardstown, was charged with alcohol intoxication in public place and lodged in the Nelson County Jail.

ALCHOL-RELATED. A Bardstown man was arrested Saturday night on alcohol-related charges following a complaint about man driving a truck that struck a post at The Car Pool and then drove away.

According to the citation, Bardstown Police Sgt. Jeremy Cauley located the truck driven by Scotty D. Johnson, 50, of Bardstown, stopped with its engine running while the driver was allegedly passed out and slumped over the steering wheel. Johnson was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs/etc., and lodged in the Nelson County Jail.

ALCOHOL-RELATED.  A Bardstown man was arrested early Saturday morning on alcohol-related charges following a traffic stop near the intersection of Templin Avenue and Castleton Drive.

According to the citation, Bardstown Police Officer D. Pinkston observed a 2005 Cadillac operated by Jared J. Kopp, 33, of Bardstown, crossing the yellow line. During a traffic stop, Kopp allegedly failed several field sobriety tests, and admitted smoking marijuana prior to the incident. He was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs/etc.; careless driving; expired drivers license; failure to notify address change. He was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.

ALCOHOL-RELATED. A Michigan man was arrested on alcohol-related charges at 1:19 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016, on Granite Drive near Buffalo Wings & Rings.

According to the citation, Bardstown Police Officer Jared Culver allegedly found Kyle Robert Lewis, 22, of Algonac, Mich., passed out behind the wheel of his still-running pickup truck in the middle of the roadway. After field sobriety tests were administered, a breath test confirmed the presence of alcohol. Lewis was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs/etc. and lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
