Threatening text messages prompt local police response today at NCHS

Friday, Sept. 30, 2016, 9:30 a.m. — In response to a text message circulating of a possible threat of gun violence at Nelson County High School today, local law enforcement are at the school this morning.
A social media post by a member of law enforcement stated local officials became aware of rumors of a threat of violence spread by text message yesterday. Officers are at the school today as a visible presence monitoring the situation.
The alleged threat only mentioned Nelson County High School. Parents who read the threatening message say no names were mentioned. It isn’t clear if the threat has a connection to a fight that happened yesterday at the school.
