Two Campbellsville men injured in Monks Road motorcycle accident

Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, 5 p.m. — Two Campbellsville men were injured Saturday afternoon after the motorcycle they were riding left Monks Road and crash near the Abbey of Gethsemani.

sheriffbadgeNelson County EMS and the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched at 3 p.m. Saturday for a single-vehicle crash involving two men who were riding a motorcycle. According to police, the men were riding south on Monks Road when Morris Coppock, 72, of Campbellsville, the operator of the motorcycle, lost control of the Suzuki motorcycle when he swerved to avoid an object in the roadway. Coppock and his passenger, James Furkin, 72, of Campbellsville, were transported by EMS to Flaget Memorial Hospital for treatment of a complaint of back pain and cuts and scrapes. Police say both men were wearing helmets.

Deputy A. J. Lewis and Deputy Lt. Kaelen Matthews of the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office responded to accident scene.
