Obituary: John Russell Grundy Sr., 68, Bardstown
JOHN RUSSELL GRUNDY SR.
John Russell Grundy Sr., 68, of Bardstown, died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was born Oct. 3, 1947, in Bardstown to the late Eugene and Ollie Belle McGoffney Grundy. He was a former employee of Bird & Son and American Greetings. He was a member of the Bardstown First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was an avid UK fan and loved to sing and cook.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Tommy Grundy, Michael Grundy, Richard Wayne Grundy and Charles Scott; and one sister, Sarah Upshow.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Duncan Grundy; four sons, Bill Duncan, Daryl Grundy, John Grundy, and Troy Grundy, all of Bardstown; three sisters, Lana (Lorenzo) Lovejoy of Radcliff, and Robin (Jewel) Brock and Elaine Grundy, both of Bardstown; two brothers, Roger (Julia) Grundy and Steve Grundy, both of Bardstown; one sister-in-law, Patricia Grundy; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, at the Bardstown First Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Smith officiating. Burial is in the Bardstown Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, at the church.
The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
