Cora Mae Young Hayes, 62, Bardstown

Cova Mae Young Hayes, 62, of Bardstown, died Friday, May 20, 2011, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown.

She was born July 18, 1948, in Louisville, was a published poet having two poems in the Library of Congress, and had been an administrative assistant for the last 10 years with the Department of Corrections in Louisville.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Ilisha Maria Jordan and Stacy Jordan Higdon; and her father, Lonzo Pinkney.

She is survived by her husband, Gary T. Hayes, Sr., of Bardstown and her mother, Juanita Mae Geary Young.

Cremation was chosen with no services.  Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date.
