Obituary: Hansford Salee Milligan, 93, Cox’s Creek

Hansford Salee Milligan, 93, of Cox’s Creek, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at Jewish Hospital. He was born Nov. 30, 1922, in Lebanon Junction to the late Leslie Frank and Zettie Mae Ricketts Milligan. He was a former nursing assistant at Robley Rex VA Medical Hospital for 35 years, and former funeral_candlecustodian for 33 years at Parkwood Baptist Church where he was also a member. He was a Kentucky Colonel.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Berenice Milligan; one sister, Irene Hall; one brother, Glenn Milligan; and one granddaughter, Rowan Faith Dooley.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mildred Coomes Milligan; six daughters, Mary Jane (Kirby) Land, Gladys Ilene (Danny) Graham and Jackie A. (Paul) Hall, all of Bardstown, Brenda Sue (Joel) Friedman of Port Richie, Fla., Judy Ann (Kenny) Chappell of Louisville, and Jennifer J. (Chris) Dooley of Savannah, Ga.; one son, Leslie Salee (Donja) Milligan of Colorado Springs, Colo., one sister, Norma Hagan of Lebanon Junction; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with burial in the Lebanon Junction City Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
