Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, 6:30 p.m. — A Nebraska couple were injured Tuesday afternoon when the RV they were in collided with emergency vehicles parked at the scene of an accident at the 128 mile marker on the Western Kentucky Parkway west of Elizabethtown
According to the Kentucky State Police, at about 1:13 p.m., William Baker, 69, and Ladonna Baker, 68, both of Grand Island, Neb., were traveling in their 2011 Forest River recreational vehicle when they failed to see parked emergency vehicles in the right lane and shoulder of the parkway. The RV collided with an unattended White Mills Volunteer Fire Department fire truck, which then struck the rear of an unattended Hardin County Sheriff’s cruiser parked in front of it.
Both victims were flown from the accident scene directly to University Hospital in Louisville with non-life threatening juries. No first-responders were injured.
KSP Post 4 troopers were assisted by members of the Stephensburg and Elizabethtown fire departments and the state Department of Transportation. The accident remains under investigation by KSP Trooper Mike Cook
