Bardstown man faces charge for firing gun to scare away ‘clown’

Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, 2 a.m. — A Bardstown man was cited for wanton endangerment Monday night, Sept. 26, 2016, after he allegedly fired a gun in the air after he saw what he and his wife believed was a clown.

PoliceCarAccording to the uniform citation, Bardstown Police were dispatched at 11:17 p.m. to Burlington Court after receiving a call from a woman walking her dog of shots fired. The victim told police that Adam J. Tingle, of Withrow Creek Road, came out of his house, yelled obscenities at the victim and fired a gun in the air.

Tingle told police his wife was outside their home when she told him she thought she saw a clown. Tingle told officers he went outside and yelled at what he believed was a clown. When the victim did not move, Tingle allegedly fired one shot from his AR-15 into the air to scare off the clown. Tingle told officers he was scared for his family’s safety because of recent reports of criminal activity involving clowns. Officers took Tingle’s weapon at the time of the incident.

Tingle was cited to Nelson District Court on one charge of second-degree wanton endangerment.
