Obituary: Katherine Bernice Mattingly, 79, formerly of St. Francis
Katherine Bernice Mattingly, 79, of Indianapolis, formerly of St. Francis, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016 at her residence. She was born Nov. 2, 1936, in St. Francis to the late Benjamin Franklin and Anna Alvey Bowman.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Amanda Schelonka; two sisters, Margaret Jacob and Mary Agnes Mills; and four brothers, William Patrick Bowman, Walter Thomas “Buster” Bowman, John Edward “J.E.” Bowman and Frank Bowman.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Gerald Dant Mattingly; her beloved dog, Bosco; four daughters, Karen Cocke (Robert), Phyllis Paquette, Sheila Garner and Wendy Talcott (Jacob), all of Indianapolis; one son, Kenneth Mattingly of Indianapolis; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, St. Francis with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Bryan T. Lamberson will officiate.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016, at the Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with a prayer service at 6 p.m. by Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
The Mattingly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
