Obituary: Mary Lee Neal Waterfill, 93, Taylorsville

MARY LEE NEAL WATERFILL

Mary Lee Neal Waterfill, 93, of Taylorsville, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, at Signature Health Care of Spencer County. She was a native of Spencer County. She was the daughter of the late Raymond Thomas and Lois Stevens Neal and the widow of former Spencer County Sheriff John William Waterfill Jr. She was a homemaker, a devoted wife, mother, foster mother, and grandmother, and the last surviving charter member of the Spencer County Homemakers. She was the oldest member of the Plum Creek Baptist Church, having joined in 1937, and where she taught Sunday school for many years. Her memberships also included lifetime membership in VFW Post 8639, and she was also a former 4-H leader.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, C. H. Neal, James E. Neal, William B. Neal, Anna Mae Brown, and Peggy Rae Smith; and one grandson, David Waterfill.

Survivors include two daughters, Annelle Hoene (Gene) and Ruth Ann New (Malcolm), both of Taylorsville; two sons, Ronald Lee Waterfill (Joyce), of Ballinger, Texas, and Thomas Dan Kennedy (Darlene) of Bloomfield; six grandchildren of her own and three whom she considered to be her grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The funeral was 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, at the Plum Creek Baptist Church in Waterford, with the Rev. Wayne Padgett, Rev. Tim Colvin, and Rev. Jon Rohr officiating. Burial was in Highland Memory Gardens in Mount Washington.

Visitation was Monday at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Taylorsville

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Plum Creek Baptist Church.

The Hall-Taylor Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
