Obituary: James A. ‘Curly’ Cissell, 80, Bardstown
James A. “Curly” Cissell, 80, of Bardstown, died Friday Oct. 14, 2016, at his residence. He was born March 29, 1936 in Marion County. He was a retired mechanic for Barton’s Distillery and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary B. Cissell; one daughter, Lola Marie Cissell; one step-daughter, Jennifer Denton; two sons, Anthony Cissell, and Steven Cissell; his parents, Linus Cissell and Alice McIntyre; his stepfather, Earl McIntyre; one brother, Charlie Cissell; three half-sisters, Ruby Cecil, Gladys Humphrey, and Mary Bryan; six half-brothers, Willett Cecil, Earl Cecil, Rollie Cecil, Ben Cecil, Billy and R.V. Cecil.
He is survived by three daughters, Carol Cissell, and Faye (Lonnie) Culver, of both of Bardstown and Jane (Steve) Seger of Springfield; three sons, Ricky Cissell of Walton, Chris (Rose) Cissell of Springfield and Keith (Candy) Cissell of Bardstown; one stepdaughter, Tammy (Jim) Brooks of Cox’s Creek; two stepsons, Philip (Vandra) Reid and Ricky (Patty) Reid, both of Bardstown; three sisters, Betty Ann Hillard, Mary Alice Cecil, and Catherine Rose Newton, all of Bardstown; two brothers, Joe Cissell and Michael Cissell, both of Bardstown; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; several nieces and nephews; and a special family friend, Jerry Cissell.
The Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery with the Rev. Matthew Hardesty officiating.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, and 9-10:15 am. Monday, Oct. 17, 2016 at Barlow Funeral Home with a prayer service 7 p.m. Sunday.
Memorial contributions may go to Masses at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
