Former substitute teacher indicted on charges related to sex with students

Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, 2 p.m. — A former Bardstown High School substitute teacher was indicted Wednesday on rape charges stemming from allegations she had sex with one or more of her students.

sex crimesLindsey R. Call, 39, of Bardstown was indicted by a Nelson County grand jury on four counts of third-degree rape.

According to the indictment, sometime in June 2016, Call allegedly engaged in sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 18 whom she came in contact as a result of her position as a teacher. in an on-camera interview, Capt. McKenzie Mattingly, interim Bardstown Police chief, told WDRB news that none of the alleged incidents took place on school property.

According to state law, third-degree rape occurs when the victim is under the age of 18 and the defendant is in a position of authority or trust. Third-degree rape is a Class D felony, punishable by one to five years in prison.

Bail was set at $5,000 cash only, plus conditions that she cannot have contact with the alleged victims. Call will be arraigned in Nelson Circuit Court on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016.
