Obituary: Margy Christine Clayton, 92, Hodgenville
Margy Christine Clayton, 92, of Hodgenville, died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, in Broken Arrow, Okla. She was born in Hodgenville Nov. 27, 1923, to Taylor and Lydia (Risen) Brown. She attended Manuel High School in Louisville. She was a homemaker most of her life and also managed the books and performed office work for their fuel distributorship business.
On March 21, 1942, she married James O. Clayton in a Buffalo wedding ceremony. They enjoyed nearly 68 years and marriage and their union was blessed with three children.She was a wonderful, devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She adored her family and loved cooking and caring for them. She was an excellent seamstress who made clothing for her children. She was a longtime volunteer at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville and taught Sunday school. She was a faithful member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Hodgenville.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Hazle (Darrell) of Broken Arrow, Okla. and Carla Niemeyer (Larry) of St. Charles, Mo.; one son, Steve Clayton (Faye) of Cox’s Creek; six grandchildren, Wendy Jones (Jason), Angie Dick (Bryan), Monica O’Brien (Mike), Greg Niemeyer (Shelly), Taylor Clayton and Tess Caudhill; and eight great-grandsons.
The funeral was 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Hodgenville.
