blotterDUI. A New Haven man was arrested on alcohol-related charges early in the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016.

According to the citation, a Bardstown police officer observed a vehicle on North Aspen Street driven by a man who was not wearing a seat belt. The officer observed the man acting erratically behind the wheel. During the traffic stop, the man, identified as James Mitchell Gilpin, 34, of New Haven, was observed sweating profusely and unable to stand still.

Gilpin was arrested on charges of driving on a suspended operators license and driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs/etc. He was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.

DISORDERLY. A Bardstown was arrested for becoming disorderly while stopping at the Bardstown Police Department to file a report.

According to the citation, Jaymason Allen Thomas, 27, of Bardstown, drove himself to the police department while having a DUI-suspended license to make a report. When told by officers he could not drive his vehicle home from the police department and would need to get a ride, Thomas allegedly became disorderly. After he was giving additional opportunities to leave, he raised his voice and cussed the officers. The citation said Thomas had to be taken to the ground after he was told he was under arrest. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle on a DUI-suspended license; menacing; and resisting arrest. He was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.

Friday, Oct. 21, 2016

DRUG POSSESSION. One person was arrested on drug charges after Bardstown Police responded to a call of a vehicle playing loud music in the 100 block of Pulliam Avenue just after midnight on Friday, Oct. 21, 2016.

According to the citation, police responded to the second complaint of loud music coming from a silver passenger car on Pulliam. When officers arrived, they detected the smell of marijuana. Austin Mattingly, 21, told the officers that he and a juvenile had just smoke marijuana. Officers located pieces of marijuana in the car, a pipe in Mattingly’s pocket, and a bag of what was believed to be methamphetamine in a baggie in the console. Mattingly was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of methamphetamine; and unlawful transaction with a minor, third-degree. He was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.

DUI. A Bardstown man was arrested in the early morning hours of Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, on alcohol-related charges stemming from a collision behind the Third Street Tap House.

According to the citation, at about 4:09 a.m., city police responded to assist with a deputy reporting a DUI-related collision. Officers found the vehicle operator, James N. Barnett, 31, of Bardstown, who smelled strongly of alcohol and exhibited slurred speech when questioned. After a series of field sobriety tests, Barnett allegedly told officers that his brother-in-law “knew Jack Kelley and would pull strings.” Barnett was arrested on one count of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs/etc. He was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
