Obituary: Earnest F. ‘Ernie’ Ashley, 78, Nelsonville

Earnest F. “Ernie” Ashley, 78, of Nelsonville, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. He was born March 7, 1938, in Owensboro. He was retired from Ford Motor Company and was a member of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wavy and Docia Ashley; and one son, Jerry Ashley.

He is survived by one daughter, Chris (Dan) Hickey of Crestwood; two sons, Doug (Gerri) Ashley and Brian Ashley, both of Crestwood; the mother of his children, Betty Ashley of Crestwood; one sister, Shirley (Wesley) Sanders of Louisville; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, at Barlow Funeral Home in Bardstown with burial in the Mount Tabor Cemetery in Crestwood.

Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
