Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016
DUI. A Bardstown man was arrested Tuesday evening, Oct. 25, 2016, on alcohol-related charges after he was stopped for driving his vehicle after dark without headlights.
According to the citation, at 10:13 p.m Tuesday, Oct. 25, Bardstown Police observed Steven B. Olliges 39, turn from West Daugherty onto North Third Street without his vehicle’s headlights on. During the traffic stop, the officer noted a smell of alcohol and conducted field sobriety tests. Olliges was arrested for driving under the influence, operating on a suspended license, and no headlights. He was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
THEFT. A Bardstown man was arrested Tuesday morning, Oct. 25, 2016, after Bardstown Police were dispatched to an Olympia Drive residence for a report of a man who threatened a family member with a shotgun.
According to the citation, at 10:26 a.m. police responded to an address to talk with a family member who alleged that Cory A. Sweatt, 21, had threatened the victim and others with a shotgun before he left the victim’s residence. Officer made contact with Sweatt. A search of the home turned up several firearms, one of which was reported stolen. Officers also found a plastic tube with possible drug residue.
Sweatt was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016
DRUGS. A New Haven man was arrested early on the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016, after police were called to a convenience store for a report of a suspicious man.
According to the citation, at 1:37 a.m. Oct. 26, Bardstown Police were dispatched to a convenience store on East Stephen Foster Avenue. Police found Justin M. Browning, 25 of New Haven inside who appeared unsteady on his feet. He admitted to officers he was intoxicated and allegedly gave officers a false name. Officers found a drivers license and credit cards belonging to a recent theft victim in his pocket, as well as what appeared to be a small amount of methamphetamine and marijuana. While he was being arrested, Browning resisted arrest and had to be taken to the ground. He threatened officers and their families once he was in custody.
Browning was arrested and charged with possession of controlled substances, first-degree (methamphetamine); possession of marijuana; disorderly conduct, first-degree; giving officer a false name or address; receiving stolen property; resisting arrest; public intoxication, controlled substances (excludes alcohol). He was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
RECKLESS DRIVING. A Bardstown man was arrested Wednesday evening, Oct. 26, 2016, after he fled from police responding to a call of a possible domestic argument between a man and a woman.
According to the citation, at 11 p.m. Oct. 26, Bardstown Police responded to the area of West Stephen Foster for possible domestic. The alleged victim told police that Preston W. Price, 21, of Bardstown, had attempted to run her off the road. Officers located Price’s vehicle on West Broadway and attempted a traffic stop. Price allegedly ran through a traffic signal and stop sign before stopping for police in the 200 block of East Broadway.
Price was arrested and charged with reckless driving; disregarding a traffic control device – traffic light; disregarding stop sign; and fleeing or evading police, second-degree (motor vehicle) and rear license plate not illuminated. He was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016
DRUGS. A Bardstown man was arrested Thursday evening, Oct. 27, 2016, on drug-related charges.
According to the citation, at about 10:11 p.m. on Oct. 27, officers made contact with William J. Martin, 31, as his residence in regard to active arrest warrants. While arresting Martin, officers observed him allegedly place something in the back of his pants. Officers found a small baggie contained what was believed to be methamphetamine. Rolling papers and aluminum foil with burn marks were also found in Martin’s wallet.
Martin was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, first-degree (methamphetamine); tampering with physical evidence; and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
Friday, Oct. 28, 2016
ALCOHOL. A Bardstown man was arrested early Friday morning, Oct. 28, 2016 on alcohol-related charges.
According to the citation, a Bardstown Police officer observed a vehicle driven by Ernest C. Baker Jr. 25, of Bardstown operating erratically as it traveled north on North Third Street. During a traffic stop, the officer reported that Baker smelled strongly of alcohol and marijuana. Inside the car, the officer found a cup of whiskey in the console between the seats. Baker allegedly admitted to consuming alcohol. Field sobriety tests were administered, and Baker was arrested on charges of driving under the influence; possession of an open alcohol beverage container in a motor vehicle; careless driving; and rear license not illuminated. He was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016
SHOPLIFTING. A Bardstown woman was arrested on shoplifting charges early Sunday morning, Oct. 30, 2016.
According to the citation, Stephanie R. Wright, 33, of Bardstown, was recorded on security video leaving Walmart without paying for contents worth more than $900. She was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking-shoplifting over $500; disorderly conduct; and criminal trespassing, third-degree. She was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
DUI. A Bardstown man was arrested on alcohol-related charges on Sunday evening, Oct. 30, 2016.
According to the citation, Jeffrey M. Harrison, 51, of Bardstown was stopped by Bardstown Police following up on a complaint of a highly intoxicated male subject operating a motor vehicle in the area of Walmart that had struck at least three vehicles. Officers stopped Harrison’s vehicle on Springfield Road. Officers say he had a strong odor of alcoholic beverages and had several open and unopened beer cans in the front seat. Harrison was arrested and charged with driving under the influence; operating on a suspended or revoked operators license; possession of an open alcohol beverage container in a motor vehicle; and no insurance. Harrison was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.

SHOPLIFTING. A Bardstown woman was arrested on shoplifting charges Monday afternoon, Oct. 31, 2016 in the wake of a Bardstown Police investigation of shoplifting incident that took place at Walmart at 4:13 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 28, 2016.
According to the citation, on Oct. 28, 2016, Stephanie R. Wright, 33, allegedly pushed a cart of merchandise valued at more than $500 through an emergency door in the Walmart garden center without paying. When confronted by officers, Wright told police the items are in Lebanon and admitted being under the influence of drugs. She was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking-shoplifting over $500; terroristic threatening; possession of drug paraphernalia; and criminal trespassing, third-degree. She was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
