Obituary: Joseph Edwin ‘Jodie’ Miles, 85, Bardstown
Joseph Edwin “Jodie” Miles, 85, of Bardstown, died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, at his residence. He was born Dec. 22, 1930 in New Hope to the late William C. and Mary Cleophous Wells Miles.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a granddaughter, Deshia Nicole Bowling.
He was a retired employee of Barton Brands LTD with 43 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the 508th Airborne Infantry Regiment. He earned his paratrooper wings at Fort Benning, Ga. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Joan Clark Miles; one daughter, Rosemary Miles (Joseph Kenneth) Bowling of Lawrenceburg; two sons, Michael Edwin (Donna Stallings) Miles of Cox’s Creek and John Phillip Miles of Bardstown; one sister, Rita Cecil of Lebanon; one brother, Robert “Bobby” Miles of Loretto; two grandchildren, Jennifer Miles (Thomas Spalding Hurst III) and John Harley Miles, both of Bardstown; and two great-grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 111 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14, 2016, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto Cathedral with the Rev. Terry Bradshaw officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road with a prayer service Sunday evening.
The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
