Obituary: Sarah Jean Carrico, 86, Bardstown
Sarah Jean Carrico, 86, of Bardstown, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016, peacefully at her residence. She was born Feb. 5, 1930, in Bardstown to the late Edward Earl and Agnes Dea Kendall Rogers. She graduated from Bethlehem Academy in 1948. She was retired from Heaven Hill Distillery. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she served on the Bereavement Committee, Adoration, St. Jude Novena and cooked for the priest and former church housekeeper.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Curtis Carrico, one sister, Maxine Graham; and one brother, Carroll Rogers.
She is survived by three daughters, Cathy (Bill) Conway and Susan (David) Hurst, both of Bardstown and Karen Dailey of Louisville; three sons, Jimmy (Jill) Carrico of Bardstown, David (Deedee) Carrico of Elizabethtown and Brad (Vicki) Carrico of Bardstown; three brothers, Merrill Rogers, Fabian Rogers and Larry Rogers, all of Bardstown; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a nephew Tony Graham.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2016, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with the Rev. Terry Bradshaw as celebrant. Burial is in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, and 8:30 to 11 a.m. at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, with prayers Thursday evening.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Technology Dept. at St. Joseph Elementary or Archery Program at Bethlehem High School.
The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, is in charge of arrangements.
