Obituary: Martha Campbell, 97, Bardstown

MARTHA CAMPBELL

Martha Campbell, 97, of Bardstown, died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown. She was born May 23, 1919, in Sharpsburg. She attended the University of Kentucky and was on the Women’s Rifle Team. She was a cafeteria manager at Bardstown High School, where she is still remembered for her homemaking skills and recipes for yeast rolls, apple crisp, and peanut butter cookies. She was a longtime member of Bardstown Baptist Church, where she was involved in WMU.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Douglas “H.D.” Campbell.

She is survived by one daughter, Bonnie Campbell Grant of Bardstown; two sons, Stephen Douglas Campbell of Bardstown and Philip Howard (Monica) Campbell of Lexington; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2016, at Bardstown Baptist Church with burial in the Bardstown Cemetery with the Rev. Stan Lowery officiating.

Visitation is 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at Barlow Funeral Home, and 10-11 a.m. Monday at the church.

Memorial contributions may go to Bardstown Baptist Church building fund.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
