Obituary: Joseph Shelby ‘Shot’ Boone, 79, New Haven

Joseph Shelby “Shot” Boone, 79, of New Haven, died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at Jewish Hospital Downtown in Louisville. He was born Oct. 29, 1937, the son of the late Thomas Donald and Catherine Albina Bowling Boone. He was retired after 32 years of service with Ford Motor Co. in funeral_flowerDetroit. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a lifelong member of St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Rita Boone O’Bryan; and four brothers, Don Boone, Raymond Boone, Ray Boone and Jack Boone.

He is survived by one daughter, Donna (Kurt) Schoechert of Hartford, Wisc.; three sons, Donald (Brenda) Boone of Carlton, Mich., Richard Boone of San Antonio, Texas, and David Boone of Romulus, Mich.; one sister, Lula Boone Jackson of New Haven; one brother, Jerry (Barbara) Boone of Louisville; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016, at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven with the Rev. Chris Lubecke officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, and 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at the William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 N. Main St. in New Haven.

The William R. Rust Funeral Home in New Haven is in charge of arrangements.
