Alleged butcher shop escapee avoids capture until put down by city police

Monday, Nov. 28, 2016, 9:30 a.m. — Bardstown Police were forced to shoot and kill an escaped animal described as a black bull Monday morning about 9 a.m. in the area of My Old Kentucky Home State Park.
At about 8:30 Monday morning, Bardstown Police were dispatched to the area of the intersection of Bloomfield Road and East Stephen Foster Avenue for an escaped animal that was being pursued near Kurtz Restaurant. Several officers responded and chased the animal away from traffic onto the My Old Kentucky Home State Park property and golf course area.
The animal evaded officers for more than half an hour on the park property, running into the wooded areas near the state park tennis courts as it was being pursued. In the end, officers were unable to capture the animal and they used their weapons to put it animal down.
Initial reports were that the animal was believed to have escaped from Boone’s Butcher Shop.
