Obituary: Catherine H. Peterson Rogers, 88, Loretto

Catherine H. Peterson Rogers, 88, of Loretto, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at her residence.She was born June 19, 1928, in Loretto. She was a homemaker and former employee of the old Cowden Sewing Factory in Lebanon and Nukote in Bardstown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Rogers; her parents, John C. and Ursula Buckler Peterson; three sisters, Nell Brahm, Betty Hupman and an infant Ursula Peterson; three brothers, Cary Peterson, Jimmy Peterson and Bill Peterson; and one grandson, Matthew Cowan.

Survivors include five daughters, Paula Blanford of Bardstown, Mary Jane Warren of Calvary, Rita Rust (Dennis) of Springfield, Karen Hayes (Wayne) and Lisa Brown (Bobby) both of Lebanon; four sons, Kenny Rogers (Prudence) of Bardstown, Vincent Rogers (Betty Jo) of Campbellsville, Frank Rogers (Anna) of Loretto and Joe Rogers of Cox’s Creek;
one sister, Geraldine Peterson of Abingdon, Va.; four brothers, The Rev. Harry Peterson of Santiago, Chile, The Rev. George Peterson of Curico, Chile, Bobby Peterson of New Haven and The Rev. Gerald Peterson of Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Mary Francis Peterson of Campbellsville; 26 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, St. Francis. Burial will follow in Lebanon National Cemetery. The Rev. Gerald Peterson and the Rev. Bryan T. Lamberson will concelebrate.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Monday at the Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with the Rosary at 7 p.m.

Memorial donations may go to the Ursuline Sisters of Mt. Saint Joseph, 8001 Cummings Road, Maple Mount, Kentucky 42356

Pallbearers are Paul Vincent Rogers, Brian Warren, Jason Cowan, Robbie Rogers, Jarrod Blanford, Bartholomew Cowan, Dalton Rogers, Wes Blanford, Tony Brown, Jordan Hayes, Jason Lee Cowan, Jr. and Cody Rogers.

The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of the arrangements.
