Friday, Dec. 2, 2016 — There will be a candlelight prayer vigil beginning at 5:15 p.m. Saturday evening, Dec. 3, 2016, in support of the family of Rasheed Javon Wickliffe, the Bardstown man who was killed Dec. 1, 2016 in Bloomfield.

The vigil will take place at the Nelson County Justice Center on Plaza Drive adjacent to the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office.

The trial of the man accused of killing Wickliffe has been delayed until January after the judge declared a mistrial Monday after the jury pool saw the accused — Alexander C. Roberts of Bloomfield — enter the courtroom in shackles. The mistrial comes after the trial date was delayed several times this year.

Wickliffe was a 2015 graduate of Bardstown High School who planned to attend Bluegrass Community & Technical College in Lexington to study welding.

The family’s supporters have a Facebook group established, Justice for Rasheed. Family supporters have also created a crowdfunding account to help raise $15,000 so the family can “pay for an attorney to hire a private and civil attorney to proceed over this case as it moves forward.”
